Can you please introduce yourselves to our readers?

shun : We are a super pop band from Okinawa.

Congratulations for your new single “ Plastic Romance ”, can you tell us more about it?

shun:I wrote this song last summer, and I named it “Plastic Romance” because it has a moody but somewhat frivolous image. I hope everyone will enjoy listening to it.

Is it my impression or this song has a different sound compared to your other tracks?

shun:This song represents the next phase of the “HOME EP”. We already have more different types of songs in the works, so please look forward to more tracks to be released in the future.

The music video is really impressive, how does it feel to shoot in an airplane?

o-png: Actually it was not a real plane, it was a set, but with the lighting and stuff, it looks like a real plane. It was a great shoot, like we were flying over the sky.

How was your band formed and what are the origins behind the name “HOME”?

o-png : At first, Shun and I were in the same high school and we were the only ones who could talk about music, so we decided to make music together. Later, when we were looking for a singer who could sing well, we heard that there was a guy in the next town who could sing well, so we invited him to join us and we formed HOME. All three of us like different genres of music, so each of us will go our own way, but in the end we named the group HOME as a place where all three of us can come back to.

Is there a particular era or genre of music that resonates with your band the most?

shun : British music of the 80s, especially post-punk, new wave and neo-acoustic music. To name a few specific artists, Joy Division, New Order, The Smiths, and The Stone Roses.

o-png : I am influenced by hip-hop with a sad bluesy groove in a smooth sound like Mac Miller and Noname.

seigetsu : I like R&B and soul from the 80s and 90s.

o-png : It’s interesting that all three of us like different genres and eras of music, but we all play the same music that has the feel of the current streaming era.

You personally worked on the lyrics of all of the songs, can you walk us through your songwriting process?

seigetsu : Ideas for lyrics often come from walks. I get ideas not from nature, but from walking in the city. For example, I get inspiration from buildings and abandoned cars, imagining the people who made them and their owners.

Is there an overarching theme to the EP as a whole?

shun : The sense of reverb is the common sonic characteristic of these five tracks.

o-png : I designed this artwork, and when I was creating the design, I thought that most of the songs on this EP start with love, so I designed it that way. It looks like two people kissing, but their feelings are different, so their faces are misaligned. I think it is an EP of emotions born from the misalignment of love.

Is there a particular track that you want the listeners to pay more attention to, if so, why?

shun : It’s “lululu”, especially the guitar solo! By the way, most of the songs on this EP have guitar solos. I really see this EP as a guitar solo EP. Guitar solos have gone out of the spotlight in the last few years. The sound is modernized, but there are a lot of guitar solos. I think that sense of distance from the times, of pandering and counter-pandering, is a big element of this EP.

Can you describe HOME in 3 words?

shun : Post-modern

seigetsu : Whimsy

o-png : Subtropical

Your music videos are very entertaining and fun to watch, can you share an anecdote about the filming process?

o-png : The music videos for “Lucy”, “Maybe I should die with you” and “ai no uta” were shot in Okinawa, where we live. For “Lucy”, we invited our friends and we shot the music video for a whole day. There was a scene at the end where I was driving, but I had too much fun and drank too much alcohol during the live scene before that, so I made everyone wait for 5-6 hours before we could shoot the driving scene.

Do you have any other passion or hobby regardless of music?

o-png : Swimming. Swimming is musical and fun. I adjust myself, change the timing and speed of my breathing, and the feeling of being afloat has a reverb to it, and I swim thinking that it is like music.

shun : Japanese comedy.

seigetsu : An adjustment of the oil pressure of the carburetor of a bike. I am very into it.

Can you leave a message for your fans?

shun : We hope to see you in Italy someday! Till then, everyone stay healthy.

What’s next for HOME?

shun : The group plans to become a worldwide pop group! We will be releasing many new songs! We finally have songs that are not limited by genre in the truest
