ANNA (Annabele Reniedo) is an artist with thousands of qualities and talents. Following her solo debut in 2016 with the single “Hanggang Dito Nalang” in Filipino, she decided to venture into the KPOP industry with “If I Say I Love You” in 2019. In this interview Anna will tell us about her multiple activities, and her latest single “What U Know Bout Me”, a song which holds an important meaning for ANNA.

Can you please introduce yourself? You’ve been making music for many years, how did your music career start?

I’m ANNA (real name: Annabelle Reniedo) , a solo PPOP artist, host, actress, and entrepreneur. I’m an active artist in the Philippines and currently joined into a Korean company (NA Entertainment), the home of KPOP Boygroup “DUSTIN” and solo ballad singer “SEUNGHAN”. Aside from that, I do also have my restaurant business in the Philippines that have 2 branches. I’ve been in the industry for a decade now. I started performing on KPOP events in the Philippines, like joining dance cover contests until I had my first girl group in the Philippines named “BLACK PINK DOLLS” back in 2014. Our group didn’t last long and disbanded in 2015. We decided to separate because me and the other members were busy with school and work.

In 2015 onwards, even though I was busy with school, I decided to continue performing as a Solo Independent Artist because performing was really my passion. I managed my schedules, outfits, and other stuff that I needed to prepare. In 2016, I released my debut single entitled “HANGGANG DITO NALANG”. It’s a Filipino song that I composed and wrote personally. It’s actually based on my experience and about a guy who I fell in love with but didn’t push through. We were friends at first and I realized that it’s better to be friends. In Filipino words it’s HANGGANG DITO NALANG, in English it’s like Only/Just until here. This song actually became an OST of a Wattpad series on TV5 (a broadcasting channel in the Philippines).

I had some local shows and even in some provinces of the Philippines. I even started my acting and hosting career way back in 2017 up to present. In 2019, I released my second single entitled “IF I SAY I LOVE YOU” under a Korean company based in the Philippines. Before, this song was even on Korean applications such as Naver, Melon Music, etc.,.

From 2020 to 2021, I focused on my business since the pandemic hit the whole world and had an impact on the entertainment industry. Then in 2022, I released my third single entitled “PETMALU,LODI,WERPA”. It’s a reverse words of Malupet, Idol, Power. It has English and Tagalog lyrics which means, “If you love what you do, just do it, if you love singing and dancing, then just sing and dance, express your feelings and emotions through it. Don’t mind what other people say. Show them that you’re AMAZING, IDOL and have POWER to show them what you’ve got.” .

In 2022, I got my award as the 2022 PPOP AWARDS “POP INDIE ARTIST OF THE YEAR”, which is one of the major awarding ceremonies in the Philippines every year. And this year 2023, I became part of the Korean application called “POCKETDOLS” together with other KPOP Idols which I met my international CUTIES. And, I released my latest single “WHAT U KNOW BOUT ME” produced my South Korean music producer J.JIN(Jo Ho Jin) of Future Creative Korea. It’s a very meaningful song because my haters inspired me to write this song together with Producer J.JIN.

The message in your last single “What U Know Bout Me?” is very strong, can you tell us more about it?

This song was made for the haters/bashers. I’m so thankful to them because they inspired me while writing this song. The song has lyrics like “Think about it, when you say it, are you perfect huh?”, “You keep talking like you know”, “Everyone cares about me, I’m not a wannabe, I’m just here doing fine, why don’t you worry yourself babe?”. These lyrics were actually my favourite ones. Hahaha

When producer J.JIN gave me the music and demo. I already visualized what lyrics I should put on, and this concept was actually the next song that I’m craving to release. So, I’m thankful to Future Creative Korea for trusting me.

The music video is cool and very energetic, how did you prepare for the shooting and how did you feel?

Actually, everything on the music video I directed myself with the help of my friends and team. I’m also the producer of my music video. I’m thankful to all my friends and generous sponsors (CAFEROO MALATE, TUNA KING JAPANESE RESTAURANT, 24 FRAMES MANILA, GREENMART KOREAN GROCERY, SEMICOLON PH, for helping me out on this project.

What do you think sets ANNA apart from other artists?

I think different artists have their own uniqueness and styles but have the same purpose which is to make people and fans happy through their music and talent. But, my goal aside from making people happy on my performances is TO INSPIRE. I want to inspire those inspiring artists to continue what they love to do. No matter how hard it is, never ever give up your dreams. I believe that if you want something you can get it as long as you’re working hard and doing your best for it. Ignore those people giving negativity and continue your passion positively. There are some obstacles but you can go through it as long as you’re positive in every step that you make.

Money? Income? Fame? It’s just secondary for me. It’s like a bonus. I’m not aiming to be super popular. I want to inspire everyone. Being an artist and in the Entertainment industry  , you should be prepared EMOTIONALLY, MENTALLY, SPIRITUALLY, and PHYSICALLY. If you can’t do all of these, you cannot make it.

Who or what is your biggest inspiration? Is there a concept you would like to try in the future?

My inspiration is my experiences and those people that surround me. I want to try an RNB song maybe? And I want to try cute concepts in the future.

What’s next for ANNA? You are very loyal and sweet with your fans, do you have a message for them?

I will be having a new song, and it’s a collaboration song with a Korean artist. So, Please look forward to it. I want to say thank you to my CUTIES, who were always there for me. Even though I cannot reply to them one by one, I know that they can feel how thankful I am to them. I want to meet my international cuties in the future and I will do my best to inspire and make you happy through the talent that God has given to me. I want to share my happiness and passion with you. I will be receiving my newest award this November 12, 2023 in the Philippines as 2023 PH FASHION TRENDS “GLOBAL FEMALE SOLO ARTIST OF THE YEAR, and this is because of your support CUTIES! Let’s be together forever if possible. I love you
